We hope you all have a wonderful holiday! Wish we could just have one giant party with everyone we know and love but we would need a football stadium to fit you all in!!!

Unbelieveable...

I had never seen this before in my life. I was watching this show the other night and saw this. Check it out! I just couldn't believe it!

Gingerbread Houses 2009

We went over last Sunday to my Mom and Dad's and made Gingerbread Houses as a family. After lots of frosting, candy, graham crackers, boxes for building, wooden dowels for structural support and JB Weld... yes, I said JB Weld, we ended up with this:

Some were bigger than others (thanks to the JB Weld), some included out-houses, some had porches, and some had been in a blizzard. All were fun to make and what a great memory to hold in our hearts.
We also had my Dad get out his guitar and play some Christmas songs that we could sing along with. As a kid, it was a treat to have my Dad get out his guitar and play for us. What great memories that brought back for me. I even started to tear up as we were singing, watching my kids sing and know that this was yet another generation of memories that we were building. What a great night. Thanks Mom and Dad for helping us build traditions and memories for us and our kids!

One Whole Month of Treasures!

Okay, so I have been taking pictures of all of my fun finds but have neglected to post them. Here is my really long list of fun treasures. Feel free to skip over to the next post if you get bored...

This book has amazing pictures inside. Wish I could show them all to you but the cover will have to do. I would like to photocopy some of the pictures and hang them up in frames on the wall of my kids room. It was $1

Just loved this quote. It hasn't found a home in my house yet. I'm thinking it will find a home somewhere after all of the holiday decorations have been taken down. It was $.50

This vintage chenille blanket was at the most FUN yard sale I have been to in a LOOOOONG time. Thanks so much to Becky for calling us and telling us about it! This blanket will most likely be cut up and used for the material. Probably for some awesome fall decoration for next year. It was $1

Also at the fun sale... these will be used for crafting over the next year. Gotta love the vintage wooden spools! Whole box was $1.

This was a fun find. This was at another sale and the fabric was awesome. There is 1-2 yards of year fabric. Plus they had some awesome vintage bias tape.

I mean... how cute are those tiny strawberries! The whole pile was $5

I got all of this fabric for $1. Not vintage but could be used to fill in a project somewhere if needed. Was a good buy still the same.

This was also part of the $1 purchase above. Might come in handy for a fall decoration next year. Or maybe a gift.

These cute cabbage patch dolls were from 2 separtate sales. The boy doll was $1 and the girl doll was $.25
What a deal. We don't have dolls to play with at our house so when girls come to play at our house, now at least they will have a baby to play with.

These cute bunnies I paid $4 for. Wished they were a little bit less but they will make a great addition to our Easter decorations this coming spring. Always have to be thinking ahead to get the best deals.

A collection of books. Can't remember how much I paid but it couldn't have been very much or I would not have bought them.

This fabulous purse was $2. I love how it's vintage looking but not "old lady" looking. The colors are great. And it is really functional too. You will see me with it on a regular basis now.

These are fun. They are felted beads. I plan to use them for centers of fabric flowers. We will see how that goes. I got all of them for $1. Thanks Diana!

A big bag of buttons... FUN! I am a button collector and this just added more to my collection. $1 was all that it cost me to bring them home.

A bunch of zippers. I saw an awesome headband the other day at Urban Outfitters that was made with a zipper. They had sewn the zipper together to look like a flower. These will be my practice zippers. If it works, I will post a picture. I think I am going to try it like this.

This fun box of ric rac and trims was $5 and my friend Tiffany and I bought it together and split it. She took most of the ribbons and I kept most of the lace and ric rac. That was a fun treause find.

These cute boxes were $.50 each and they now hold all of my fun ric rac and trim I have been collecting.

Everyone needs a cute western vest to wear to the local Rodeo... not really but I thought it might come in handy for a western party or something. It was $.25

More books. Not sure the cost but I can't imagine it was more than $.50 each or they would not have come home with me.

Love old movies. Even though they are on VHS. We are still old school and have 2 VHS players so we often enjoy the old movies. This one was $.50

These bunnies will be added to the Easter decoration pile. They were $1 each...

As well as this one. Think this one is my favorite. We'll see how we use him come springtime.

Okay... are these not the cutest shoes EVER!!! I got them for $3. I will be wearing them to church on Sunday with my new Christmas dress so if you see me, make sure you notice the cuteness of them. I was so excited because I really wanted a pair like them from Old Navy but they were $35 and I just couldn't justify spending that much on shoes. They were black not silver, but when you get them at 90% off the regular price, no need to be picky!

Love this story... it was $.25

Love these too! $.25 each

And these too! $.25 each
A cute wind-up clock that has an alarm (great for traveling or if the power goes out) for $.25

Another pile of zippers for my flower-making project. They were $2 for the whole bag.
And if you are still with me... Total cost for the whole month $36.50
There were a few things that I got for Christmas gifts but we will not spoil those surprises.

Our Crazy Life...

This last few weeks have been full all kinds of things. I can't believe how busy I feel! Between all of the things that are typical of the holiday season, we have been extremely busy with family life.

Peanut has consumed much of my life as of late. He has really been struggling at school. He has a hard time sitting still in class, can't keep on task, often causes trouble with others in his class, teases other kids, and the latest adventure of ours is him running out of the classroom and away from school grounds.

The other part of the coin is that we have not had insurance, making it difficult to be able to take him to a doctor to investigate the issue at hand. Now, before you all send me comments about doctors, behavior issues and medications... know that I respect all opinions on this issue. However, we have chosen the route that is best for our family so I would appreciate no negative comments on the issue please.

We found a great clinic in our area that treats kids for a very small fee that actually ends up being less than any co-pay would have been through insurance. The program is run by 1st, 2nd and 3rd year residents and supervised by a licensed doctor. It has been a great experience for our family so far. Peanut see's one doctor and I see another. Peanut's doctor helps him with his behavior and makes recommendations based on the sessions he has with Peanut. My doctor helps me learn how to be better parent to Peanut and how to "cope" with his behavior.

In the meantime, we are struggling to find a balance between all of the holiday excitement and getting his medications regulated to create an optimum environment for him. I am excited about the progress we are making but we have a long road ahead of us.

Amazing Again!!!!

My AMAZING friend Ashley took these family photos for us a couple of weeks ago. I don't know how she does it but she just makes the colors look great and she always gets the best pictures of the boys. I don't want to share all of them (at the risk of ruining some Christmas gifts) but here are a few of them to take a look at. If any of you would like copies, let me know and I can get some made for you but please do not take these pictures off of my blog.
Thank you so much Ashley for all that you do!
If you would like Ashley to take your family photos, check out her website here.
